On Sunday we decided to go to historic Walden Pond for a picnic lunch, and then to the city of Boston. We had a little of a late start because Liz and my Mom went to the fish market for Liz's Mom, and my Dad made the picnic lunch.

Walden Pond is located in Concord Massachusettes. It is a famous example of a kettle hole, which was formed by glaciers 10 to 12 thousand years ago. It is 102ft deep and 61 acres with 1.7miles of shoreline. Starting in the summer of 1845 famous writer, transcendentalist
, and philosopher Henry David Thoreau lived on the pond for two years and wrote of his experience, which made the pond famous. (Information courtesy of Wikipedia)
After an afternoon of picnicking, wading, and playing tag we headed off to the city. We took the T into Boston from Alewife Station. Nick had never been on a subway before. When we arrived in the city we walked down the pier near the Aquarium. Then we headed up to Quincy Market and finally down to the North End for dinner and pastries!

The yellow awning is Limoncello's, this was by far the best place we have ever eaten on the North End!!!! (It's not on the main street if you are looking for it!) |

One Monday Liz and I went to an antique store before her and Nick left. After they left I worked on packing up what was left, which turned out to be more than anticipated. My parents neighbors, Nick and Dianne, came over for dinner. Then I spent more time packing and putting together more priority mail boxes. Mike received a phone call the night (keep in mind we had a 7:40am flight) from someone in Korea asking him for orders stating that the Army was paying for his flight. Apparently after much angst and waiting they figured out he was approved to come get us if he wanted but that they would only be paying for me and the kids flights. So last minute we ended up paying for his round trip ticket of over $1200. That's the Army for ya! LOL.
